Step Up to Quality
Step Up to Quality is a voluntary Three-Star
Quality Rating System now being piloted in select early childhood programs
licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Step Up To
Quality recognizes and promotes early care and education programs that meet
quality benchmarks over and above minimum health and safety licensing standards.
The steps are based on national research
identifying the key benchmarks that lead to improved outcomes for children.
These benchmarks include low child to staff ratios, group size, accreditation,
staff education, specialized training, improved workplace characteristics and
early learning standards.
Capital Park was the first center in Franklin
County to receive the Step Up To Quality accreditation, and Stanley Jackson, Sr.
was the first male Center Coordinator in Ohio that received this honor for his
center.
